I left El Alamo sooner then planned since Mati informed me at monday evening late that family of her was coming over for the catholic procession at the 5th of august. Unfortunately I had just bought a lot of drinks and food that morning since I had planned to stay at least one more week. I had to leave that all behind, to bad.
Anyway, goal for today is El Castillo de las Guardas at some 20kms, and maybe even El Garrobo at another 20kms.
It was another nice traject. Ofcourse it was then 😁 I know how to select that.
But it once more was more steep then expected. I really love my oldstyle gps but it's only drawback is that it can not calculate vertical meters. Luckily it can show the heightprofile on forehand. That's (partly) why, however so far so good.
I had actually expected this to be the first day of a more relaxed series of cyclingdays but it is not the case at all. The idea to cycle the extra 20kms to El Garrobo was fading now already after just the first 7kms. Anyway, no problem at all, except that something like this is a disappointment at first instance (only).
And extremely important is that the
OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️
is functioning extremely well.
It is "transporting" it's own 17kgs plus my 85kgs plus the 50kgs of luggage without any problem
and while doing so it just cycles so very fine.
The
historical maintenancelog 🖱️
shows you "all" "nothing" about that.
The real problem is me, myself and I since the total weight is quite a problem to me. I have to push to often and for too long times but can't think of any way how to change that. Then YesTrip has a 4-seasons setup and (so) I transport quite some clothes, quite a lot of (spare-) parts and ofcourse all the campingequipment. Up to now I never needed any sparepart (!), except for just 2 sets of brakepads, but I will as soon as I don't have a specific "anything" available. I know Murphy is shadowing me ... Problem is there simply is nothing available anywhere in countries and areas like these. Sure. Not.
One very nice aspect is that it's quite quiet in these areas.
And this was The Bad Hill of today ...
Then I reached the exit to El Castillo and decided to have a look. Once more it was Steep to get even into "down"-town and the potential wildcampspots I had marked turned out to all be further uphill.
I found a "super" minimercado that was abierto (open), bought a cool radler (1 and 2), left the OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ standing there and walked further uphill(s). Unfortunately all was fenced or to small, narrow or steep and I did not find an acceptable place to put up my tent so I returned to midtown and then downtown.
There I had marked the campercarparking but that was situated in a suburban area "somewhat" downhill. It offered three spots, each with multiple walloutlets, and (only) one spot had very nice shadow offered by a beautiful and very experienced tree. So I decided to put up my tent there, I had no other option anyway anymore. However I expected this situation to become a problem later or sooner. And it did ...
Another aspect that bordered me was the very steep road down to that spot. One day I would have to get up there again since this is a dead-end suburban area.
More about that in the next blog about my stay here.

Once more I cycled only 20kms but I also "cycled" 372vms. The big plus was I didn't need any warmup today.
And this is the interactive map of today's YesTrip.
So let's see what El Castillo de las Guardas has to offer.
